Professional Practice Groups (PPGs)
RMTBC is providing an opportunity for members who are interested in specific areas of clinical practice. Through research supported by the association, Professional Practice Groups (PPGs) will build on that collective knowledge base and grow a body of best practice to be shared within the profession.Currently we have PPGs for First Nations, Pain, Sport and Women’s Health. If members are interested, and willing to meet a higher RMT standard, they can join one of these groups.
This is the insurance you can obtain when you purchase your dues with the RMTBC. This General Insurance includes $5 million professional liability (malpractice) and $5 million general liability.
It is also an Occurance-based insurance, as opposed to the inferior Claims-based insurance. An occurrence policy is complete when you purchase it and on cancellation continues to provide coverage for future claims. Claims made policies provide coverage only so long as the insured continues to pay premiums.
Members receive travel insurance reimbursement coverage while traveling (business or pleasure) worldwide, but only if they are away 35 days or less. This coverage is in excess of your BC Medical coverage & your extended coverage.
Contact the RMTBC office for details and policy conditions.
RMTBC insurance includes an identity theft insurance benefit, which includes expense reimbursement up to $25,000 per covered person (including your spouse) to restore financial health and credit history as a result of an identity fraud.
The RMTBC has partnered with insurance carrier Great-West Life to provide members with a basic life insurance package, available as of October 1, 2012, which includes: $10,000 coverage; no medical under writing; coverage until your 71st birthday; and a tax-free benefit to your beneficiary.
Member Assistance Program (MAP) with Ceridean's LifeWorks program
Life can be complicated and if you have any serious issues affecting your life, we have a company that will help. RMTBC has teamed up with Ceridean’s LifeWorks program (or MAPs) that provides confidential counselling, consultations, community referrals, multimedia resources, and online access to hundreds of articles and self-assessments and more. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are provided at no additional cost to you or your dependents. MAP assistance is available in three program levels. All members automatically qualify for all three levels.
